Sharing Indigenous Knowledge
Author, activist, and attorney Sherri Mitchell, Weh’na Ha’mu Kwasset, of the Penobscot Nation, will be speaking in Mashpee on March 1 as part of a local organization’s year-long focus on “The Rights of Nature.”
Linking Indigenous & Non-Indigenous Knowledge (LINK), a Cape nonprofit seeking ways toward understanding and reciprocity between non-native and Wampanoag people, is hosting the free event. Organizers encourage anyone interested in learning more about Indigenous culture, protecting the Earth, or LINK to attend.
Sherri is the author of Sacred Instructions; Indigenous Wisdom for Living Spirit-Based Change, and is the founding director of the Land Peace Foundation, an organization dedicated to preserving Indigenous rights and protecting Indigenous ways of life. Drawing from ancestral knowledge as well as her experience as an attorney and activist, she speaks and teaches around the world, addressing some of the most crucial issues of our day, including environmental protection, human rights, and cultural values that can preserve our collective survival for future generations.
Titcomb’s Bookshop will be selling her book at the event, which takes place from 1 to 3 pm on March 1 at Mashpee High School, 500 Old Barnstable Road, Mashpee. No registration is required.
